Crane’s Beet Weiss will debut at the Festival of the Lost Township.
Good beer. Good food. Good times. That’s the Festival of the Lost Township (62nd and Raytown Road, Raytown). The second annual beer fest is this Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. We’re delighted to be a sponsor again in the festival’s second year. We thought we’d take a minute to tell you what to expect this Saturday.
What is the festival?
It’s a proper beer fest, hosted by Crane Brewing Company, with a serious lineup of breweries. You’ve got Stockyards, Central Standard, Green Room, and Martin City from the local area, as well as Earthbound, Core Brewing Co., Ozark Beer Co., Blue Blood Brewing Co., Narrow Gauge Brewing Company, and Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales. There’s also a host of distilleries: J Rieger, Tom’s Town, and Union Horse, among them.
VIP tickets are $100, which includes admission at 12 p.m., as well as access to the tent with food pairings (9 local chefs, Celina Tio, Ryan Brazael, and Howard Hanna, among them) and Cookies & Beer. Tickets for general admission (which starts at 1 p.m.) are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Just a note, designated drivers get in free.
How’s it different in year two?
The homebrew area will be massive (40+ homebrewers) as Brewtopia — a homebrew competition and festival — will be inside the Festival of the Lost Township this year. There’s also more food — they’ll have five food trucks on site (save room for Poppy’s ice cream and and get the chocolate hazelnut). The festival will mark the debut of Craft Beer Jerky — a jerky made with (you guessed it) beer from Cinder Block Brewery. The world of drinks will be expanding beyond beer. They’ll have kombucha, coffee, mead, and tea to try.
What should I do first when I’m there?
Keep an eye out for Crane’s Beet Weiss — a pink-hued Berliner Weiss brewed with beets (and inspired by borscht) — and their Treaty of Bacchus, a Saison aged in High West barrels.
