The day after I returned to London from Zurich, it was back on a plane to Cannes. It is such a picturesque town where my family and I are spending a long weekend to escape the cold. 70's STYLE, VENICE

Writing this post had me dreaming of being back in Venice with all its shades of blue and terracotta. I loved wearing this outfit whilst roaming across countless bridges and visiting art museums as it was so comfortable and had a kind of polished 70's vibe that I am really into lately. There is also nothing better than my long riding- style wellies which have served me well on this trip around Europe. I found that they go with almost anything and as it is so hard to find size 34 anywhere (my feet shrank again) they make me feel okay about missing out on all shoe shops.

This weekend was spent in Venice which is the most picturesque and special city I have ever visited. The vibe is so chill and everyone is so friendly. Despite the hoards of tourists there is still a glimpse of local life with laundry hanging out to dry, couples walking dogs and the prevalence of small shops. On my first day the weather was amazing, much warmer and sunnier than Switzerland and at every turn, bridge or square there was a photo- worthy view.

For a busy day of travelling and exploring I kept accessories to absolute simplicity and wore a lace sleeved jumper with a feather gilet and my leatherette skort.

STAYCATION AT B2 BOUTIQUE, ZURICH

Since I saw this hotel online, I fell in love with its design and quaint history of once being a beer brewery. When Luca and I saw it in person, I was so excited to stay there over the weekend. The rooms were huge and beautifully designed, they were modern without being overbearingly stark or minimalistic. My favourite part of any hotel room is the bathroom, and this was a glass and mosaic open section with plenty of amenities and fluffy towels. The boutique hotel although small, boasts large thermal- baths both indoor and outdoor, as well as a spa. The rooftop bath was the most unique part of the hotel. Through a warm- water tunnel is an open- air misty pool with a view of Zurich and the original red brick tower of the brewery. As it is open until 9pm, the sight of twinkling city lights, clouds of vapour and bubbles in the November air made the perfect Sunday evening.

Luca and I spent last weekend exploring the city and the following day, we took a train to Lucerne and then a cable tram up to Mount Pilatus. When I packed for this trip I had the idea to travel 'light' and perhaps I committed to that idea a little too seriously! The trick is to layer up and for this thank goodness I had my boyfriend's wardrobe from which I stole a tshirt and jumper, seen in both looks. I had no idea how quickly the temperatures could plummet, or rather I chose to forget this inconvenience. I just hope that I can see some snow fall before I leave.

One trend that is really hard for a petite person, such as myself to pull off, is the slouchy midi- culotte and a trapeze- hem shirt. I balanced it out with a floppy but bold hat and some powder blue stiletto heels. This look was worn whilst chilling on the balcony with homemade cherry bellinis and admiring the perfect weather we have had here in Zurich.

Here I am in Zurich, where I'll spend the next three weeks! Although I miss London already it is so nice to be somewhere I have never visited before. During lunch hour today, Luca and I went to the square at Bellevue for a picnic by the lake which has the most beautiful city view ever. Mountains, swans, autumnal trees and mid 19th century all in one sweep of the eye. These pictures were taken outside the sunny Opera House in my waxed canvas jacket, Thierry Lasry sunglasses that I got for a steal in Singapore, my favourite jumper from J CREW and Jimmy Choo wellington boots.

One of the places I managed to visit during my short trip to London was Duck & Dry, a blow-dry bar at the end of King's Road, Chelsea. Blow dry bars are a great invention of our growing vanity and desire to look and feel prepared for the day. They aren't just for occasions anymore. One thing that sets D&D apart from other blow- dry places that I've been to is the beautiful interior and the feeling that you're stepping into your girl friend's living room.

Like many girls the one thing I guarantee as part of my wake- up routine is to 'put on the brows'. In fact it is so essential I barely consider it makeup, it is as important as washing my face and brushing my teeth. There are three main ways to do this, using powder or eyeshadow to fill in the gaps between the hairs, pen to create hair- like strokes which creates a more natural, fuller looking brow, or to use eyebrow mascara/gel. Unlike the first two, eyebrow mascara is usually tinted and tidies up the hairs so that it looks subtly darker. It is the most natural looking option. I changed my eyebrows THREE times today to show you the differences, close- up and with a selfie so that you can see how it can alter your make-up look. Click on the descriptions for product links!

MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY PRODUCTS: PINKS, NUDES, GOLDS

Recently I have been really good at using my products sitting on my dressing table, rather than idly admiring them every time I do my morning routine. My favourites at the moment are these pretty pastel pinks and nudes, especially for the nails and face because it makes you look fresh and it goes with any outfit. For this simple makeup look I used a Chanel lipstick in 'Velvet', Météorites Perles from Guerlain, a Mac blush in 'Mocha' and highlighter, alongside the usual brows, liquid liner (MAC) and CC cream (Clinique).

Nuxe is one of my favourite brands, not only for their beautiful gold shimmering oil but their body products as well. They all have a pleasant, subtle and feminine scent and refreshingly simple packaging. I use the oil on my hair, collar, shoulders, arms and knees as the light catches it best at those places.

This afternoon I met up with some friends from work at Supply and Demand, a cafe at Orchard Gateway that has generated a huge buzz. Even before they were open for the late seating (5:45pm) there was a queue. The original branch is in the CBD area, at Esplanade Mall and they describe their style as 'Italian Southeast Asian'. So I wondered what all of this was about and reading their extensive menu they seemed to be doing a lot- pastas, pizzas, fusion food and comfort desserts. They also had a lot of drinks on offer, from flavoured coffees and herbal teas to a separate wine list. Service was extremely attentive and the staff were smiley, polite and efficient. They filled up pretty quickly so I would suggest going at least twenty minutes before you intend to dine with the waiting time in mind. The average price for a three- course meal, including a non- alcoholic drink would be around $40, so pretty decent for an extremely popular 'Western- style' eatery.

This post is a little more personal than usual because a lot of people around me are moving on from university, starting their Masters, getting new jobs, leaving old ones… the transition stage of life is eminent. From my perspective of moving, it was a complicated period that can easily turn negative and this is what I want to address.

Some people will label you and tell you you're a negative person for feeling lonely or anxious. That's when someone who wasn't negative gives into the words and starts to live up to the criticism. Think about this- even God doesn't condemn anyone to a label because He is full of love. So telling someone that they need to be happier, more positive, stronger is an opinion, not an encouragement. For example, you're told 'you look really tired.' Does that make you feel more awake? Would it not be proactive and kinder to ask, 'how did you sleep last night?'

Everyone is guilty of slipping up and saying something not so nice and that is okay. I'm not talking about tactlessness because that is a pretty obvious situation. I'm referring to the unhappiest people- the ones that blame others and care little about the consequences of their hate. We choose who we 'follow' on social media so why shouldn't we exercise discernment when hollow criticism is directed at us? Sometimes it could be naivety, trust, respect or dependency and there are people out there that consciously or not, will take advantage of that.

Are those people that put you down peaceful and happy? In my experience, definitely not. Just like you wouldn't take beauty tips from someone with bad eyebrows, don't listen to those that won't influence you for the better.

When you're moving on, you begin again and it's your chance not anyone else's.
