I HAD MY FACE PINCHED AND I LOOKED AMAZING

Like most things French, there’s something a little intimidating about luxury skincare brand Biologique Recherche – first of all, am I saying it correctly? And secondly, how expensive is it? The brand was born in the late 70’s in Paris and has always taken a pharmaceutical approach to skincare. I don’t mean to be biased but this is my favourite kind. 100% clean and green may work for some but the truth is, the majority of us aren’t born with super genes. Some of us need the extra help. The philosophy is not to have a grab and go mentality to their products (which is why they only have one online partner), but expert consultation at clinics or trusted retailers that addresses skin concerns rather than skin type, with an emphasis on anti-ageing across their ranges.

Okay, not to be dramatic but half way through, my facialist showed me the difference between before and after on each side of my face. I mean, just look at the photos below! The right side of me looked like it had been Photoshopped: brighter and more youthful, my whole brow area and jawline was lifted, dark circles reduced and skin tone more even. While the other remained the usual sleep-deprived, dehydrated from too much drinking the night before, and on the whole, puffy. Literally, Jekyll and Hyde in the mirror. I know you guys noticed it too from all the messages I received after featuring it on my Instagram Stories.

I could’ve called this article several different things along the lines of: “Facial massage nips the years off you, literally”. “If placenta can make me look like this, where do I sign?” (one of the active ingredients of a product) and “how to look like you’ve slept, even when you haven’t”. All of this probably provokes some questions about the products used, after all a good lymphatic massage isn’t the only offering of this bespoke £167 an hour treatment.

I could’ve called this article several different things along the lines of: “Facial massage nips the years off you, literally”. “If placenta can make me look like this, where do I sign?” (one of the active ingredients of a product) and “how to look like you’ve slept, even when you haven’t”. My facialist Dominika, is the trainer at Biologique Recherche. She told me that no two facials are the same, even if clients have similar concerns. The products are formulated to be mixed and matched together, for example she used a different mask on my nose area where I have the most congestion – the Biomagic which purifies and brightens. Then there are the quintessential serums, which can be combined and used twice a day.

All of this probably provokes some questions about the products used, after all a good lymphatic massage isn’t the only offering of this bespoke £167 an hour treatment. I’m told that the potency of the formulae is often over 20%, depending on the product, and that no heat is used in the manufacturing process, so the ingredients they retain their efficacy. Biologique Recherche’s hero is the P50 range, with four variations to suit different ‘skin instants’, otherwise known to you and I as “help me fix this now” concerns.
