When it comes to making a statement with everyday outfits, it’s all about the accessories and colour. Remember, this isn’t about floor sweeping occasionwear but those head-turning, conversation-stopping moments; whether it’s for a dress-to-impress event or one of those days you want to look as extra as you feel. The summer sales are an amazing time to stock up on pieces that were previously out of your price range, alternatively I’ve also picked up some on-trend bits from fast fashion retailers that have served me well for years (I’ll link them all below). Take some inspiration from these two bold ensembles I’ve put together and read my tips on how to get that street style star look.
I love to be inspired by costume and characters, it puts me in the mood to come up with a really special look. For me, this pink suit from Paul and Joe was about channelling Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods (my personal preference over Clueless) with a lot of Barbie. Last year I was rocking more subtle heart-shaped sunglasses and swapped them out for this crazy pair. Admittedly, Saint Laurent got there before this retailer did – but these are pink and inspired rather than a dupe.
The layered gold necklaces are a must-have look this season according to Instagram. I’ve collected mine over the last few months from Cornelia Webb jewellery, a vintage gold and diamond heart from my grandma, and some staple pieces from Astrid & Miyu.
I chose to style the suit with a white plunge top keep it looking adult and a bit more on the formal. Other choices could have been a plain white t-shirt or a silk shirt. I got these Aquazzura pumps from the Net-A-Porter sale and because of their shape and colour, they’re way more versatile than they immediately look.
With a statement outfit, people should know where to look. If there’s a lot going on, keep it all the same colour, because even a neutral palette can make a statement.

With so much choice this summer for midi and maxi skirts, it’s as important as ever to pay attention to the cut to get the most flattering shape. This one from Bimba y Lola is panelled and follows your movement as you walk (and currently on sale). For a little contrast, I paired it with a structured top and a belt to break up the look. Again I paired it with my new favourite heels, I’m unashamed to be a repeat offender when they’re this cute and to prove my first point – versatile.
My new Danse Lente bag is a favourite addition to my family, its geometric shape keeps the outfit contemporary and doesn’t distract too much from the clothing itself. However, paired with plainer apparel the accessory takes centre stage which is what I love about it.
