So sometimes I turn up to work in gym clothes (clean, obviously) and take full advantage of the relaxed dress code. Others may not be so lucky or even want to go as far as to forgo a wired bra. Back when I was working in retail, one of the most common wardrobe problems that women had was what to wear to work, especially in a creative or fashion environment. Is blue denim okay? What about sleeveless or low-back tops? I’ve put together some workwear inspiration for casual offices that want to be comfortable at their desks but also feel good when running around town, grabbing lunch or meeting clients. The tiny bags are optional.
Haute tip: There is nothing wrong with a little statement. At around 9:30am on the Northern Line I see the most beautifully dressed women in vinyl skinny trousers, scraped back hair and a red lip or 70’s inspired bangs and crochet skirts. If your office lets you express your style then go for it, you’re only improving everyone else’s commute. I like to go for a simple mismatch earring situation.

There is something to be said for dressing for the office in colder months – it’s simply a lot easier. This dress from Sauths comes in a wonderfully ‘heavy’ wool material that despite it’s low neckline, is very warm and comforting to wear. I love a good full length skirt and the boxy structure gives it a hint of masculinity. However, I still can’t run up the stairs in this.
Also, witness my investment shoes! Perfect for literally any day, they make an outfit look classic, thought-out and like you know what you’re doing – even if you snoozed with eyes open throughout the morning meeting.

The thing about shirtdresses is that they are just so flattering and classic. Even if you prefer the more casual boyfriend fit, you can throw on a smart blazer and booties and you’re ready for the day. Here is another dress from Sauths but in a fitted style. There are thoughtful details like hidden buttons and structured shoulders, which are very flattering for the waist. To add a little life to a monochrome outfit, I went for pink accents and leopard print for my accessories (I really do love this combo!) and tied it together with a classic trench.
