Ebony Lace

It has been snowing so much in London and whilst I occasionally think it would be a lovely idea to shoot in the white wonderland and ice glazed streets my first thought was to stay inside with knee- length socks. However after such a long absence from my blog a post was well overdue. Despite the thick frost in the air rubbing at my cheeks I braved the weather in my leather varsity jacket and an ebony lace dress. I love this one because it is simple enough to where to any occasion but it was also easy to style for the cold. The button details and pretty frayed three- quarter length sleeves have a more classic touch which I thought was a great canvas to have some fun with. For a more formal look I would add a blazer, a pair of statement earrings and some heeled ankle boots, but I think the purpose of a style blog should not be to present the predictable but sometimes to be experimental.

Casual Jodhpurs

These photos were taken over the Christmas time and all the clothes are from Rugby. I accessorized it with a neon yellow rhinestone necklace which I will feature again and it was a gift from my cousin all the way from Australia. I love the detail on the jodhpurs, I have seen many variations in beige, sand and grey tones from Ralph Lauren but I like how rugged these black ones from Rugby are. I paired them with my Chanel nude pumps because wearing these trousers with riding boots is sometimes a waste of detail- the buttons and the suede inner leg gets hidden.

Hello 2013

Happy New Year! Some people play down the importance of the new year saying that it is just a continuation from December 31st but I am so excited for all the events and possibilities that will happen this year. I will be turning 21, graduating from university and as part of my New Year's Resolution (the first time I've actually taken this seriously) I want to travel somewhere that I have never been before. As I have hit over 100 posts on this blog it is a strange feeling to look back on my previous posts and think about what I was doing at the time, how I felt and when I had acquired those pieces. My relationship with fashion has always been somewhat of a collector's interest and the threads of almost every piece weave together memories, hopes and expectations of the times when I wore them.


I wore this vintage dress on New Year's Eve and customized it by altering the hem. It was the hippie- like, delicately scalloped sleeves that persuaded me that this was not a simple over- sized sparkly dress but something you would either love or hate. It stirred my imagination and I knew that I would have something to say about it. Maybe when I return to my staple candy- coloured Oxford shirts and gold buttoned blazers I may look back and question the purchase but that's the fun with a dress like that- it dares you to style differently, it challenges your complacency. But most importantly it makes you feel something.
