Baby It's Cold Outside

'Baby It's Cold Outside'

These photos were shot at Somerset House when the pavements were blistered with ice and the stone buildings glistened in the paling daylight. I love the architecture around this area it is so great and imposing and serves as a great frame to the pretty ice rink, it is one of the nicest places to be around Christmas time. December is also that month for weekly parties teeming with the cinnamon vapours of mulled wine and sugar crumbs from mince pies. It is such fun choosing what to wear after slowly gathering together party attire that finally has opportunity to be debuted. The dress I am wearing is one of those relies on structure to make a statement, I think that taking care of what is worn beneath is equally important to making the best out of the outfit. A corset, jeweled belt and some elbow length gloves were key to bringing together this Christmas look. I chose to keep warm with a shearling jacket which I think gives the outfit a different kind of elegance, one that is imbued with a sense of ease and comfort.

Ralph Lauren Christmas Party

This is what I wore for the Ralph Lauren Christmas party at 2 & 8 Berkeley Square. I usually choose dresses for parties but since I have finally found smart, tailored trousers I decided to go for a simple suit- look. I love the fit of the velvet blazer, it is one of the best I have found and it is from Rugby RL. These photos were taken at my university since I discovered that we have a Christmas tree and I had yet to do a festive post.

The Cat- Eye

Recently I have been drawn to the cat- eye style of sunglasses, probably because in dreary British weather there is little opportunity to rock this version of the feline look. It is psychologically making me covet UV eye protection more than usual and neurotically I lust over accessories that will only catch a few hours of the winter sun. However I think they are more than worth it, especially when such a classic shape diffuses character whilst lifting and flattering the face. The ones I have chosen vary in suitability from vintage/ dressing- up box to a chic post- hangover Starbucks run.
