Sequin Manicure

SPARKLE. This manicure was inspired by bokeh images and the theme of mermaids. I love the 3D effect that it gives to your nails and the multi- dimensional sparkle when it catches the light. My friend saw them and thought that they looked like Deborah Lippman nail polishes without realising that they were actual pieces of sequin which gives it a versatility that most alternative manicures do not.



I used O.P.I nail polish, you can choose any base colour but it needs to be a thick layer for the sequin to hold. The limited edition Chanel 'Illusion d'Or' is a favourite of mine that is precious to me because it is so unusual and beautiful.


Paint one nail at a time and cut sequins in half if needed. Use tweezers to move/ place them. I started with whole sequins at the middle of the nail and used the half pieces for the sides.

A heavy layer of top coat is needed to seal and smooth out the texture of the nail. After this dries I applied a subtle layer of the glittery Chanel polish because it added a different kind of shine.

This is a blue version I tried on my friend's hand with a turquoise base colour by Rococo available at Space N.K
