Ever since I walked by the Saint Laurent flagship store in early Spring and caught a glimpse of the blown up image of Signe Lunde with a crystal tiara atop her wind-brushed hair, I was enamoured. The only problem is that I am so far from edgy there was no way I could pull off that look and trust me, I tried. I tried on all of the slip dresses I owned with my newly purchased princess accessory and stood in front of the mirror questioning my life choices as an adult. I resigned to tucking away my little sartorial fantasy, until it was provoked yet again by Chiara Ferragni who wore a tiara at Coachella with a little black For Love and Lemons dress. I had had enough, my 90’s grunge queen dreams were going to come true no matter what.
For this shoot, Emily wears a sequin black slip dress with khaki lace, over a white t-shirt and an oversized leather jacket. And of course, my £12 tiara. Hedi Slimane said that it could be worn with anything but he didn’t quite specify where. As it turns out, the tiara is not as conspicuous as one might imagine, even in the conservative neighbourhood of Chelsea. Here’s to wearing one anywhere and everywhere.
