I’m writing this from Zurich where it’s absolutely freezing. When I first got out of the airport I was smacked in the face with a lashing of icy wind, and at risk of droning on about the weather, I have to say that I am really missing the tropical sun. When I look at these pictures that Chrystal and I took on a secluded road behind Orchard Road in the midday heat, this is how I want to remember Singapore. As a golden city, glittering with glass and water where every now and then, you’ll come across a quiet road populated by skinny squirrels scurrying up palm trees. Sounds like something out of a dream, doesn’t it?
As you may know, I don’t really like styling things the predictable way. When I first saw this gorgeous dress at the Rent A Dress showroom, I thought ‘backdrop of a pool at a glamorous location with lots of bronzer on my face – now do the opposite’. Really, credit goes to Chrystal as she found this location for us. As for the makeup, I took a cue from the Giambattista Valli show (Fall/Winter 2016) and lined the bottom of my brows with holographic glitter. I was surprised at how wearable the look is, maybe I’m biased because I have a sick obsession with sparkles (I can just stare at a bottle of it for minutes) but I’m all for tastefully adapting runway beauty looks for day wear. And it may all be a matter of perspective but to me, this is a look that could be taken from day to night.
