|For the last look of my LBD styling series- a little layering, chandelier earrings and a pop of powder blue. As you may know, I’m all about the monotone but I’m big on textures and the leather bandeau and suede shoes just made this look much more interesting. I loved how sharp and wearable it is too, so much that I wore it straight from the shoot with Aiksoon to dinner and drinks at a Korean restaurant called Joo. It’s a little bit of a hidden gem in Bugis that a friend introduced me to and since then, we just keep going back, inviting new people each time.
I am also super excited to write about one of my nights in London, where my friend Sam and I stumbled into a British Fashion Week after party at the Chiltern Firehouse. It was a rainy night and we had walked away from that venue as it was way too crowded and Andrea does not stand (inside joke, sorry). Sam and I hopped to almost four different bars and restaurants before we settled on a delightful Italian place across the road from where we would end up later that night. She had several gin and tonics, I was left with a carafe of Chianti almost exclusively to myself.
At just the right amount of tipsy, we decided that before I said goodbye we should return to the Firehouse and I am so glad that we did! Dressed in my magenta ‘maxi’ trousers (I know most trousers are maxi length-wise but these are really slouchy and wide-legged and I’m like, really short) and a high-neck black top, it was definitely not the kind of thing I’d rock up to a fashion event in. On purpose anyway. What I forgot is that the thing about London is if you’re one of them, they know it. Then there was something else that had slipped my mind. British fashion parties aren’t ‘glamorous’. They are understated, a little rock and roll and there is almost no animal print. Really different to the press and VIP events you get in Asia, no?
Oh and did I mention, as soon as I opened the door, there was Oliver Rousteing? #onlyinlondon indeed. Later events of the night included sitting right by O.R, a dog running by which caused our table to go flying, ice cubes and cucumber slices all over the carpet! And of course, lovely conversations with smart and engaging strangers that wore beautiful smiles.
